There’s a bit of a logistical problem in Call of Duty: Warzone. As is often the case in shooters, but especially super fast-paced shooters like Call of Duty games, long or clumsy animations are usually a great way to get killed. So while Warzone has a healthy, thriving fanbase and a lot of praise, one item has been a great source of annoyance. If you can find a gas mask out on the Verdansk battlefield, you can get a bit of an edge when it comes to surviving the battle royale circle as it shrinks. But it comes with a cost.
This is a situational problem with a situational solution, but it’s something the player base has discovered after dealing with this issue. When you use the gas mask, your Operator actually has to put it on every time you come in contact with Warzone’s boundaries. It’s longer and more awkward than it should be, leading to people getting killed when they probably wouldn’t otherwise. Folks have been trying to figure out a way around this (or just complaining loudly), and it turns out there’s a handy way to do just that.
If you have a heartbeat sensor, all you have to do is pull that thing out before or during the gas mask animation. Pulling that gadget out will supersede the gas mask animation, while still considering the mask actively on your Operator when it’s needed. This isn’t a graceful workaround and it requires having something specific in your loadout, but it’s the best you can do in a pinch. And considering most situations involving Warzone’s gas boundary is probably a pinch, well, it’s a good thing to think about.
This is clearly a bug or unforeseen side effect, but it’s hard to say if it’s something Infinity ward will prioritize or fix ever. Animation-cancelling maneuvers usually have longer shelf lives compared to other exploits. That said, if you’re bent on using the gas mask and circumventing its obnoxious animation, there’s your way to do just that.
